Giving

“All things come from you O God and of your own do we give you.”

As we realise we have been given so much in God, we discover we all have much to give. That may be a matter of talent, time or money. As we begin to trust what we have into God’s hands we discover how our gifts can grow and blossom. We learn to let go and let God lead us.

We have been very blessed by generous souls who have come before us and given us buildings and a heritage (which can sometimes feel like a burden and responsibility). We hope to make sure we can pass on the Good News of God to our community around us near and far, and into the future generations.

We encourage church members to give regularly, cheerfully and sacrificially. This is to cover the huge costs of employing vicar and others; heating and repairing our buildings; and also giving to those in need beyond our own parish. We get support from the Oxford Diocese for schools work and other matters, but we still need to raise a substantial sum of money each year to meet our budget. We are also thrilled to be able to support our Mission Partners, Steve and Lindsey Poulson working with street children in Honduras.

Legacies

As well as making a difference in our life, we can also make a difference in our death – with a bit of planning. Leaving our relationships and our affairs in order is a lifelong work. It is important to live generously and it may be that we can leave a financial legacy too. We have been blessed in those who have decided to leave a gift in the past, either a percentage of their estate (ten per cent, for example, according to the biblical principle of tithing) or as a fixed amount. All gifts are welcome, as God leads you. If you wish to discuss this with a church treasurer, please do ask....
