Remembrance Sunday
This is our collective moment to remember, give thanks for generosity and service of those who have protected us and remember the terrible costs of war and commit ourselves to work for peace.
The Collect, the prayer for the week
   Almighty Father,
whose will is to restore all things
in your beloved Son, the King of all:
govern the hearts and minds of those in authority,
and bring the families of the nations,
divided and torn apart by the ravages of sin,
   to be subject to his just and gentle rule;
who is alive and reigns with you,
in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
one God, now and for ever.

Care Bus Trip
The next trip will be on 1st December departing from St. Mary's at 13:15.
Due to popular demand, it will be a return trip to Toad Hall Garden Centre, near Henley-on-Thames, at a time when their famous Christmas grotto will be in full swing; there were tempting preparations going on when we last visited.
As before, there is no charge for the trip, but you must register as soon as possible with me; space is limited, and several people have already put their names down.
You can contact me via 875651 or officeofgsandss@yahoo.com

Prayers for this week
Thank you to Simon for this week’s prayers.

Father God, during this time of Remembrance, we call to mind the sacrifice made by the men and women of our armed forces, their families and supporters. We solemnly remember with deep gratitude those who gave their lives, as well as those who returned from conflict wounded and those who care for them.  By your saving grace, bless all those serving today, whether on active duty at the frontline or in support.

Even as we commemorate the fallen in our own conflicts past and present, we continue to bring before you the continued struggle and bloodshed in the Middle East and Ukraine.  We pray for safety for the people of Palestine, and that the necessary humanitarian aid be given prompt passage. Guide the leaders and international partners in the best way to provide the support required to bring these conflicts to a swift conclusion.

In the week of the first King’s speech, we pray for wisdom for our Sovereign and the Ministers that form his government.  With a new term beginning in Parliament, we ask for your guidance and inspiration to all those making decisions about how to address the cost-of-living crisis, as well as your provision and protection for all those suffering under these extreme conditions as winter begins to close in.

We ask that you bless the leaders at our Churches here in our Benefice; for Gavin our Bishop, Ben and the ministry team.  Inspire our life as a fellowship, and in particular the ecumenical Advent course, due to start shortly.

Finally, we pray for those sick or suffering from our congregations and any others who are ill or in distress at this time.

We commend ourselves, and all for whom we pray, to the mercy and protection of God our Lord and Father.

Merciful Father, accept these prayers for the sake of your Son, our Saviour Jesus Christ. Amen.
