ChristianAid
Christian Aid Week 14th – 20th May
Christian Aid works with local partner organisations throughout the world to bring hope to those facing crisis.
The focus of the campaign this May is on countries like Malawi and Kenya where farmers are suffering the consequences of global warming.
During Christian Aid Week, we are planning to deliver envelopes to people’s homes with a note asking them to take their donations to Jack’s or Inspiration for Goring and Streatley, or the Village Shop in South Stoke. If you are able to deliver the envelopes in your road or one near you, please collect the relevant folder from St Thomas’ Church between Sunday 7th May and Sunday 14th May for roads in Goring, or volunteer your help to your Church Wardens for roads in Streatley and South Stoke. Your help will be greatly appreciated.

In Goring on Thursday 4th May at 10.30am in the Canterbury Room we will be counting the envelopes for each road; attaching the notes to them, and putting them in the folders ready for delivery, and would welcome volunteers to come and help. Please contact Judith Aguda via e-mail for more details.

In addition this year, Ann will very kindly be hosting a Ploughman's Lunch in aid of Christian Aid on Monday 15th May, 12.00-2.00pm. Do, please, come along!
GreatBigGreenWeek2023
Great Big Green Day, Saturday 17 June
An exciting day is planned and happening to inspire us with how we can each make a difference.
The church is bringing together lots of other groups and organisations.
There are several jobs where we need help on the day.
Please offer your services to Ben. Thank you.
The Sanctuary Foundation has been exploring why so many young men from Albania would risk crossing the English Channel in small, expensive boats. This 3 minute video gives some reasons and food for our prayers: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RTyyOYaiEJk
Daily Prayer will be taking place as usual. Why not join in one day? We listen to the Bible and pray for our world and church.
Monday: 8.30am Goring,
Tuesday and Thursday: 8.30am Streatley.
Friday: 9am Goring.

We are asked to pray

  • For preparations for the Coronation weekend and for each of us as we pray and reflect on who we are called to serve and how to live in God’s way as citizens.
  • For us to be peacemakers.
