The Collect

The prayer for the week

God, who in generous mercy sent the Holy Spirit
upon your Church in the burning fire of your love:
grant that your people may be fervent
in the fellowship of the gospel
  that, always abiding in you,
  they may be found steadfast in faith and active in service;
through Jesus Christ your Son our Lord,
who is alive and reigns with you,
in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
one God, now and for ever.

We are leading up to our Parishes’ Away Day on Saturday 19th November to bring all these many ideas and possibilities together. Be part of it, please, with God. Please book the date in your diary.

Great Big Green Day on Saturday October 1st

in the Rectory Gardens and Village Hall, 10am-2pm GreatBigGreenDay

This is part of a nationwide celebration of action on climate change.

Just a week to go!

We would love some helpers on the day and cakes made in advance. Do spread the word and invite and come along. Tea, coffee and cake are going to be served in the Village Hall, and contributions of cakes will be needed to make this possible. If you will be able to make a cake, could you kindly sign up on the list at the back of the church, or ring Mary.

Thank you very much indeed.

Helpers for TomToms and Discoverers

Our children’s work needs your prayers and support. At Discoverers (age 10+) Ben leads and Wendy supports (ideally Jo is not called on as she has two children in the group to give them a break from her). We occasionally need an extra adult to be present. It is lovely to have the generations meeting each other. Might you be game?

At TomToms, the input is usually from Jo or Luke and  we would love to have occasional help in this too. …. Please speak to Ben or Jo. Thank you.

Over £800 raised for Ukraine

Those who attended Patrick's piano recital last Sunday were enthralled by Patrick's sparkling performance. The varied programme included works by Bach, Mozart, Liszt, Debussy and Janacek - and were all played by memory! It is not surprising that people gave so generously with over £800 being raised for the CAFOD Ukraine Appeal.

Goring Chamber Choir concert

The Choir's autumn concert takes place on Saturday 15th October at 3pm in St Thomas’. It is entitled Amor de mi alma (You are the love of my soul) after Randall Stroope's choral setting of a text by the Spanish Renaissance poet Garcilaso de la Vega and consists of 500 years of love songs from America to Argentina, Ireland to Italy.
Tickets: £10, £5 for students in full time education, free for under 18's.

Obtainable from Inspiration, Goring, from a choir member, email tickets@goringchamberchoir.org.uk or on the door.
